This week for the Saints

St. Helens have four matches to look forward to this week, with our First Team, Academy both Men and Women, and Scholarship sides in action!

The Red V begin with two games on Wednesday with our Under 16’s Scholarship and our Women’s Under 19’s. Then on Thursday night our men’s Under 18’s Academy and the senior First Team both have matches.

Find out all the key details for each game below.

Scholarship vs Bradford Bulls (A)

Our Red V Under 16’s are back in match action on Wednesday night, looking to build on what was a thrilling game against local neighbours Warrington Wolves away. A fine feast of rugby league was served by both sides, ending with honours shared 20-20 in an engaging contest.

The season has been a strong one for the Saints, who have four wins to their name, one loss and one draw.

  • Wednesday, 11th July
  • Kick off 7pm
  • Odsal Stadium, BD6 1BS
  • Entry is £5 for adults, free for Under 18’s

Women’s Academy vs Wigan Warriors (H)

Our Under 19’s Women are taking on local rivals Wigan Warriors in their fourth game of the campaign. So far the Saints have won two of these beating Warrington Wolves 0-42 at Crossfields, and then 36-0 at Cowley in the reverse fixture. The one defeat so far has come at the hands of Wednesday night’s away side Wigan, when our spirited Saints lost out 34-18 at Wigan St. Jude’s.

Head to Cowley to see the next generation of Saints Women’s stars of the future and cheer them on in The Derby!

  • Wednesday, 12th July 2023
  • Kick-off at 7pm
  • Cowley International College (Playing Fields), WA10 6JU

Academy vs Bradford Bulls (A)

Eight matches, eight wins. St Helens’ Under 18’s remain top of the Academy Championship table with an 100%-win record so far this season. The latest victory came a fortnight ago as part of the Club’s double header against Castleford Tigers, 58-24, with plenty of positives on display in a heavily penalised contest due to the academy law trials taking place in the fixture.

The Red V will be aiming to make it nine wins from nine as they visit 8th placed Bradford Bulls at Odsal Stadium in Bradford.

  • Thursday, 13th July
  • Kick off 7pm
  • Odsal Stadium, BD6 1BS
  • Entry is £5 for adults, free for Under 18’s

First Team vs Catalans Dragons (H)

Saints head into the game on the back of a big away win over Warrington Wolves last Friday night, moving The Red V into third on the league ladder – having won eight of their last nine matches.

The Dragons’ lead at the summit was cut back to just two points following their defeat to Huddersfield Giants on Saturday evening, with Leigh Leopards (the Saints’ Cup semi-final opponents) sat in second. Paul Wellens’ men though do have a game in hand and could take a huge stride to keeping the pressure building at the top of the table with a victory on Thursday.

Clashes with Catalans in recent years have been some of the best and most top-quality matches in the season, and this should be no different as two of the best sides in the competition will face off.
