This Week for the Saints

Four Saints sides are in action this week, with a huge double header live at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night!

After two tight Betfred Challenge Cup Semi-Finals last week, both our Saints Women and Men will be playing at home on the same night. With our Reserves and Scholarship also in action, it is another busy week for the Red V!

Find out all the key details for each game below.

Scholarship vs Huddersfield Giants (H)

Our Scholars open up the action for this weeks action on Wednesday night! It is the eighth and final game of Scholars’ regular season, so they will be hoping to round it off with a victory at Blackbrook.

Last time out our Under 16’s performed strongly away at Bradford Bulls, gaining a big 12-44 win!

Women vs York Valkyrie (H)

On the back of a hard fought Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Semi-Final last weekend, the two sides will meet again on Friday night, with top spot in the Betfred Women’s Super League on the line.

Saints booked their place in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, with a 17-16 victory over the Valkyrie, with Faye Gaskin kicking a last minute one-pointer to seal the win for the Red V!

The two sides met at the LNER Community Stadium earlier on this season in our season opener. Saints suffering a 26-6 defeat to the Valkyrie, after losing both Jodie Cunningham and Rebecca Rotheram in the opening 15 minutes.

First Team vs Leeds Rhinos (H)

Saints welcome Leeds Rhinos to the Totally Wicked Stadium for the second time this season on Friday. The first meeting between the two sides ended 24-25 to the Yorkshire club in March. The Red V gained revenge for that defeat by winning 12-13 at Headingley back in May, Lewis Dodd kicking the drop goal deep into golden point extra time.

So, who wins chapter three?! Wellens men will be wanting to shake off the disappointment of the Semi-Final and get back marching up the table in Super League with a second win over Leeds in 2023.
