A LOOK AT SALFORD…
When Salford are ‘on it’ they can be highly entertaining and one of the most entertaining teams to watch with their attack, but in recent weeks their results have been tough to come by. Paul Rowley’s men are currently on a six-game losing run but have been wrestling with injury concerns, much like Saints are.
The Red Devils in recent years have punched beyond their weight, making the Grand Final in 2019, Challenge Cup Final in 2020, but they are attempting to turn from a club that sells its stars, into one that retains them.
It appears to be mixed fortunes on the front, with Man of Steel for 2022 Brodie Croft putting pen to paper on a mammoth seven year extension at the start of the season, but highly touted prop Tyler Dupree leaving the Greater Manchester side last week on a club record transfer fee to Wigan Warriors.
Heading into Round 21, Salford sit outside the play-offs and have aspirations to fight their way back in, and with their key men returning to the 21-man side, they will be giving their all to buck the current trend of loses they are on. They will face a highly motivated St. Helens side though, who are looking to consolidate their spot in the top four spots of the table, and beat Salford for a second time this season.
THE RECORD AGAINST THE RED DEVILS
The Saints dominate the head-to-head between the two clubs in Super League. St Helens have played Salford in Super League on 56 occasions, with the Red V winning 47 times (including the 2019 Grand Final victory, and last September’s semi-final.)
Our highest score over Salford came in 2001 when we beat the Red Devils by 66 points to 16, whilst our widest margin over them was set in 2000 away, winning 58-4.
