Saints ran in thirteen tries to beat Huddersfield 0-68 at Laund Hill on Sunday afternoon!

Saints took an early second minute lead. A high kick by Faye Gaskin wasn’t dealt with, the ball bounced and Paige Travis grabbed it and planted the ball down in the corner. Amy Taylor missed the kick, 0-4 Saints led.
A second try soon followed. From a scrum, Saints went right, and Gaskin found Rebecca Rotheram who went through a gap before racing away to extend the lead. Taylor converted, 0-10.
Saints made it three tries in the opening ten minutes. The ball went through the hands, Gaskin finding Rotheram, who found Travis, who found Phoebe Hook to score in the corner. Taylor missed the kick, 0-14.
Try number four followed. Saints shifted the ball to our left edge and Danielle McGifford raced away to score in the corner. Taylor missed the kick, 0-18.
The Red V’s fifth try came 19 minutes in. The ball found its way to Shona Hoyle who broke through a gap before palming off Amy Bennett and racing away under the sticks. Taylor converted, 0-24.
Taylor then grabbed her first try in Saints colours, after she spotted a gap from dummy half and made the most of it. She turned four points into six, 0-30 we led.
Four minutes from the break, Saints had another. Rotheram found Erin Stott, who cut back inside before planting the ball down under pressure next to the sticks. Taylor converted, 0-36.
Our final try of the first 40 came two minutes before the break. Katie Mottershead picked the ball up from dummy half and raced forward, she avoided some tackles, before rounding the fullback to score. Taylor converted, 0-42 Saints led at the break.

The second half started as the first had ended. Saints forced an error, on the back of it Georgia Sutherland ran a strong line to power over for her first try in Saints colours. Taylor converted, 0-48.
The try of the game followed. Hook got the ball inside her own half and ran around the Huddersfield defence, before beating two more tacklers on the wing and then strolled underneath the sticks. Taylor converted, 0-54.
Try number eleven came just before the hour-mark. Gaskin played a great ball to Vicky Whitfield who was able to breeze through a gap, before scoring under the sticks. Taylor converted, 0-60.
Minutes later, the Red V had another. Saints went left and Jodie Cunningham found Hannah Roberts who dove over in the corner. Taylor was unable to convert, 0-64.
The thirteenth and final Saints try came two minutes from time. Saints went right and Hook collected a cut-out pass from Gaskin to go over for her third try in the corner. Taylor was unable to convert, but Saints emerged as 0-68 victors in West Yorkshire against the Giants.
