Up next: Saints go to Wakefield

St.Helens take on Wakefield Trinity on Sunday, 3rd September in Round 24 of Betfred Super League 2023, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm at the Be Well Support Stadium.

Paul Wellens’ men are in rich vein of form as we edge nearer to the end of the regular season, winning the last five Super League matches in succession. The latest of which came on Friday night away at Castleford Tigers where a dominant first half was enough to get a 4-34 victory.

Wakefield currently sit at the bottom of the league ladder in desperate need of points and performances with the threat of relegation from Super League. Trinity have been sat in 12th spot all season, but green shoots of hope in recent weeks has re-ignited their survival drive.

After finally get their first win of the year in June over Leeds at home, Wakefield gathered some key home momentum beating Salford, Wigan in golden point, and put an out of form Warrington to the sword – all at their home, Belle Vue. In what was the biggest game of the season up to that point though, the Trin fell to what could be a crucial defeat to local rivals Castleford Tigers a fortnight ago, and followed that one up loss last week to Salford.

With four rounds remaining, Wakefield have three home games left in their campaign, starting with the visit of the current Super League and World Club Champions, St.Helens, this coming Sunday. With the hosts desperate to fight for their spot in the top-flight, in front of their own fans, and Saints wanting to confirm their place in the play-offs and further cement a spot in the upper table – both sides head into the fixture highly motivated.
