Makinson now 9th in Super League’s all-time try scorer list

St.Helens' star winger Tommy Makinson is now in stand-alone ninth place in Super League's list of all-time try scorers.

Back in Round 22 of Betfred Super League 2023, the Saints faced Hull KR at the Totally Wicked Stadium and heading into the match Makinson was actually in join tenth spot in the list of Super League’s highest try scorers alongside Rob Burrow and David Hodsgon on 168 four-pointers in the competition.

Against the Robins on that right-edge with Mark Percival setting him up, Makinson moved into stand-alone tenth spot for all of about ten minutes…

Off a brilliant hit-out pass from Jonny Lomax, Tommy grabbed a brace and joined Luke Dorn at ninth spot on 170 Super League tries.

Fast forward to the win over Castleford Tigers last Friday night which saw a huge milestone for Mark Percival scoring his 1,000th points in the Red V in his testimonial year – a remarkable achievement.

Grabbing another brace, this time at The Jungle, Makinson moved himself into outright ninth in the Super League all-time try record with his 171st and 172nd tries for the Saints!

With four games left in the regular season, plus the play-offs to come, eighth spot could soon be Makinson’s too with former Saint Leon Pryce the man who hold that spot with 173 scores.
