St Helens Women had their 2023 awards evening at the Totally Wicked Stadium last night!
The awards were more split than ever before, with all eight categories having different winners this year. You can find a review of the evening down below!

Saints Top Chef
Captain, Jodie Cunningham, was crowned the winner of Saints Top Chef, which was filmed at the start of the year. You can watch all of the episodes if you have a Saints TV premium account here.
2023 u19’s Player of the Year
The second award of the evening was for the u19’s Player of the Year. The award went to Erin McDonald, a forward who featured twice for the first team at the Nines Tournament earlier on in the year.
2023 Young Player of the Year
The third award was for the Young Player of the Year. The victor of this award was 2023 recruit, Luci McColm, who Saints signed back from rivals Wigan Warriors at the start of the year.
McColm scored 11 tries in 11 games this season, cementing a starting spot at left centre for the majority of our 2023 season.
Marquee Milestones
We also celebrated those players who have hit 50 appearances in the Red V, since the team was formed in 2018. Below is a list of the players who have reached the milestone:

Chantelle Crowl – 67 Appearances
Naomi Williams – 65 Appearances
Emily Rudge – 64 Appearances
Zoe Harris – 62 Appearances
Pip Birchall – 60 Appearances
Leah Burke – 59 Appearances

Jodie Cunningham – 53 Appearances

2023 Try of the Year
The fourth award was for Try of the Year. This was voted on social media by fans, with Phoebe Hook’s effort against Leeds Rhinos at Wembley grabbing the best try award for 2023.
Hook joined midway through the year from Manchester Rugby union, scoring seven tries in nines games, which included a hat-trick against Huddersfield.
2023 Members’ Player of the Year
The fifth award was for the 2023 Members’ Player of the Year. This is voted for by our 2023 Members, and the winner was Woman of Steel nominee and Captain, Jodie Cunningham.
Cunningham was appointed England Captain earlier on this year, and despite a frustrating years with a knee injury, made ten appearances scoring three tries.

2023 Players’ Player of the Year
The sixth award was for Players’ Player of the Year. Arguably the most meaningful award, getting recognised for your efforts by your fellow squad members. The winner of this award was Eboni Partington.
Partington was used in various positions during the season, covering at Fullback, Centre and Winger, scoring nine tries in 16 games.

2023 Coaches’ Player of the Year
The penultimate award was for Coaches’ Player of the Year. This award went to Woman of Steel nominee, Shona Hoyle who has impressed throughout 2023 with some dominant performances from both prop and second row.
Hoyle grabbed an impressive 16 tries in 17 games from second row, and occasionally prop, in a standout campaign for the England international.

2023 Player of the Year
The final award was for our 2023 Player of the Year. This year, it went to our third and final Women of Steel nominee, Emily Rudge.
Rudge grabbed nine tries in 15 games for the Red V in 2023, constantly leading from the front. The effort put in from our number twelve earning her the Player of the Year award.
