Our Academy and Women's teams begin their 2024 seasons this week, and there's a big clash awaiting the First Team in West Yorkshire...
First up on Thursday night our Under 18’s begin the 2024 Academy Championship campaign away at Leeds. Just over 24 hours later on Friday, Paul Wellens’ charges take also take on the Rhinos in Round Five of Betfred Super League 2024.
It is the first official hit-out for our Women’s team on Saturday to close out a busy Saints week, with the London Broncos Women coming to the Totally Wicked Stadium to kick-off the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Group Stage.

THURSDAY
Academy vs Leeds Rhinos (A)
Derek Traynor’s young Saints will begin their bid to retain the Academy Championship title after coming top of the league table, beating Hull FC in the semi-final and then Warrington Wolves in the Grand Final.
It’s a tough opening round away at the Rhinos, and both clubs pride themselves on developing their youth talent to become senior Super League players.

FRIDAY
First Team vs Leeds Rhinos (A)
The aim is to get back to winning ways for the Saints after suffering the first defeat of the season last Friday night.
Both the Red V and the Rhinos have a record of three wins and one loss heading into the Round Five encounter. Rohan Smith’s side fought back from 16-0 to win 16-22 away at Leigh Leopards and re-energise their early season efforts.
Clashes between Saints and the Rhinos are typically entertaining and enthralling matches, and last season’s fixture at Headingley was a dramatic affair that was settled by Lewis Dodd’s extra time drop goal to secure an important St.Helens victory.
With over 1,100 of our fans already confirmed to be heading across the M62 it should make for an electric atmosphere!

SATURDAY
Women vs London Broncos (H)
It is the kick-off of the new Women’s Rugby League season and our history making, three times in a row Challenge Cup winning Saints host London Broncos for the first match in the Group Stage of the competition.
Matty Smith’s side will then face back-to-back away trips firstly to Odsal to take on Bradford Bulls, followed by visiting Warrington Wolves.
