Saints squad named for league trip to Leeds

Paul Wellens has confirmed his 21-man St.Helens squad for this Friday’s Betfred Super League Round Five fixture against Leeds Rhinos, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm at AMT Headingley Stadium.

The Saints face back-to-back trips to the West Yorkshire side after being drawn against the Rhinos for the Sixth Round of the 2024 Betfred Challenge Cup, and further details of that match were confirmed on Tuesday evening – click here to find out more.

It is the second away fixture of the league campaign and the Red V will be looking to make it two wins from two on the road so far in 2024. St.Helens put in a professional and confident performance against Huddersfield Giants to win 0-28 at the John Smiths Stadium, with over 1,500 Saints supporters in the stands cheering the team on.

Another strong number of travelling fans is expected in Leeds with over 1,200 already confirmed to have their ticket to be at Headingley on Friday night!

Both the Saints and the Rhinos have a record of three wins and one loss heading into Round Five. Paul Wellens’ men are hungry to get back to winning ways after suffering a first loss of the year last week, while Rohan Smith’s side come into this match on the back of two wins after getting a comeback victory away at Leigh in Round Four.

Head Coach Wellens has three changes to the squad he last announced with Matty Lees and Joe Batchelor available for selection following injuries, whilst Konrad Hurrell is also back after serving a one-match suspension.

Curtis Sironen and Noah Stephens step out of the 21, as does Mark Percival after he received a two-match penalty notice from the Match Review Panel on Monday.

Matches between St.Helens and Leeds Rhinos are always exciting affairs, as two of the biggest rugby league clubs collide. With over 1,200 of our supporters heading across the Pennines, it should make for an electric atmosphere under the Friday night light at AMT Headingley Stadium.
