St.Helens R.F.C. joins the rugby league community in offering their sympathy and condolences to the family and those closest to former Warrington Wolves Chairman Lord Doug Hoyle, and in particular to his son Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the current President of the Rugby Football League.
Lord Hoyle, Chairman of Warrington Wolves between 1999 to 2009, sadly passed away died on the 6th April, aged 98.
Saints Chairman Eamonn McManus stated: “It is sad indeed to hear of the passing of Doug Hoyle. Doug was a great supporter and promoter of rugby league both during his tenure as Chairman of Warrington Wolves and thereafter. He was also a distinguished politician and parliamentarian over many decades.
“As a fellow Chairman he was always on hand to offer wise counsel and sound advice. He had a genuine and continuing passion for rugby league.
“He will be greatly missed but his legacy continues through son Sir Lindsay who continues to be a stalwart for our game.”
