This week for the Saints

It's Quarter-Final weekend for the Saints' First & Women's teams, with our Academy on the road to one of our local neighbours too!

A busy Saturday sees our Women’s team take on Huddersfield Giants for a spot in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Semi-Finals, then just an hour later our Under 18’s take on Warrington Wolves away. Sunday brings a close to the week in big fashion as the First Team also look to book their spot in the final four of the Men’s Challenge Cup, at home against Warrington Wolves.

See all the key information and more details for each match below…

SATURDAY

Women vs Huddersfield Giants (H)

After finishing top of our pile in the Group Stage of the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup, Matty Smith’s Women have earned a home quarter-final tie against Huddersfield Giants.

Saints beat Warrington Wolves away at Bank Quay Bulls last Sunday afternoon by 6-58 to confirm topping the group. The impressive win came on the back of a big win over London in the middle of March, 64-0, and a 0-48 victory being awarded to St.Helens Women over Bradford Bulls after the West Yorkshire side were unable to field a side for the match.

The Red V are looking to further their legacy and place in history as the reigning Cup holders for the past three years. Our defence of the Cup continues on Saturday against a Huddersfield side who are eager to compete with the best.

  • Saturday, 13th April
  • Kick off 12pm
  • Thatto Heath Crusader Park, WA9 5JA
  • Entry to see this match is FREE

Academy vs Warrington Wolves (A)

Our Under 18s face their third match of the Academy Championship 2024 season away at the Wolves.

Saints began the season with an impressive away victory over Leeds Rhinos 22-32. Then a fortnight ago Derek Traynor’s young Saints were just edged out to a 10-12 derby day defeat at Ruskin Drive Sports Facility to Wigan Warriors. So following that result, they will be eager to get back to winning ways against another local rival in Warrington.

The Wolves Academy have two wins out of two to start their campaign comfortably beating Hull FC before just narrowly getting a win over Bradford Bulls on the road.

  • Saturday, 13th April
  • Kick off 1pm
  • Victoria Park, WA4 1DQ
  • Entry is £5 for adults or £2 for juniors/concessions

SUNDAY

First Team vs Warrington Wolves (H)

For the first time since 2019, the Saints are hosting a Men’s home Challenge Cup tie with crowds in attendance!

St.Helens are looking to shake off the narrow defeat to Catalans Dragons at the weekend and progress to the final four sides in the knockout competition.

The Saints beat the Wolves on four occasions last season, including the Eliminator Play-Off at the end of September, but under the new coach Sam Burgess their mood is high, especially after a strong away victory over Leeds Rhinos last time out.
