Up next: Hull FC at home

St.Helens will be looking to shake off the disappointment of exiting the Challenge Cup when we host Hull FC in Betfred Super League action.

The match takes place at our home ground, the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night (19th April) with kick-off at 8pm.

Heading into Round 8 of the league competition, the Red V sit in fifth position but level on points with three other sides with points difference separating them.

The Saints are hurting after a loss in the Challenge Cup last Sunday afternoon which also followed a tough defeat in the South of France the week before. Paul Wellens men will be highly motivated to right a couple of wrongs and put in a better and more positive performance for themselves and for the Saints faithful supporters.

Hull FC head into this fixture with Simon Grix and Francis Cummins in charge of the team following the departure of Tony Smith as Head Coach last week. The Black & Whites also saw two players leave the club, with Tex Hoy and Fa’amanu Brown choosing to leave Humberside.

It’s been a tough season for the Black & Whites so far, winning just one match out of seven in the league, and being knocked out of the Challenge Cup themselves in Round Six by Huddersfield Giants. The week off may have been beneficial for the Airlie Birds with new men in interim charge, a chance to rest and recharge, and look to improve their fortunes.

THE STEVE PRESCOTT CUP

St Helens and Hull FC continue to honour the legacy of the late great Steve Prescott MBE, with Friday night’s match as the first leg of the Steve Prescott Cup 2024.

The annual contest between the Saints and the Black & Whites is played over the regular season meetings between the two sides, with the team who has the highest aggregate score across the home and away league fixtures winning the trophy.
