Saints took a fourth minute lead at the Totally Wicked Stadium. The ball was moved through the hands down our right edge, Jonny Lomax found Konrad Hurrell, he held onto the ball before finding Tommy Makinson who finished well in the corner. Mark Percival added the extras from the right touchline, 6-0.

Another good opening followed five minutes later. The Red V forced a Hull FC knock on in midfield, they again try and shift it through the hands down our right edge but Jack Welsby’s pass to Jon Bennison goes to ground, and the visitors survive this time around.

Saints’ lead did extend fifteen minutes in. A good inside pass from Morgan Knowles just inside the Hull half sent Sione Mata’utia through a gap, he found Lomax in support who raced over to score to the left of the sticks. Percival converted, 12-0.

The hosts wanted more tries. Again, camped on the Black and Whites’ line, Welsby tried a low grubber kick, but Darnell McIntosh pushed it behind for a goal line dropout. Similar happened two minutes later, but this time Percival was just about unable to beat the Hull defender to the ball, but forced another dropout.

They didn’t prevent Saints for much longer. Matt Whitley got a great offload away to Welsby whilst tackled on the last, he threw a dummy and found Percival who found Waqa Blake on the left wing to stroll over. Percival converted from the left touchline, 18-0 Saints led.

Eight minutes before the break, Saints had their fourth try of the opening 40. A penalty was awarded for a ball steal on Curtis Sironen in front of the Hull posts, Saints opted to run it, James Bell got it stepped past a Hull defender and reached out to score from close range. Percival converted, 24-0.

Video referee decision number one came 36 minutes in. Hurrell went on a strong run down the right edge, carrying multiple Hull defenders over the line with him. Despite the video referee initially saying try on the screen, they changed their mind to no try seconds later as Saints walked back to the half way line. 24-0 it remained, a true you had to be there to believe it moment.

It took just four second half minutes for Saints to score another. A drop off ten metres out saw Joe Batchelor run back on the inside and score under the posts. Percival converted, 30-0.

Saints earned a set ten metres from the Hull line, a few tackles in we moved it left and Lomax’s pass set Percival through a gap to score in the corner. He was unable to convert his own try, 34-0.

Try number seven of the evening followed eleven minutes into the second half. Saints moved it right, Welsby found Hurrell who breezed over in the corner. Percival added another two points with his final touch of the evening, 40-0.

Sironen then added his name to the long list of try-scorers. He received the ball ten metres out, broke a tackle and bulldozed his way over to score. Bennison took over kicking duties and converted, 46-0.

With eleven minutes to go, try number nine came. Saints shifted it through the hands down their left edge inside the Hull half, Ben Davies found Blake who cut inside from the wing to cross for his second try of the game. Bennison converted, 52-0.

Saints grabbed try number ten in the final minute. The ball was shifted right, Welsby cut back inside and was able to break a tackle to score underneath the sticks. Bennison converted with the final action of the game, Saints returning to winning ways with a dominant 58-0 victory over Hull FC at the Totally Wicked Stadium!
