Wellens names squad to take on the Giants

Head Coach of St.Helens Paul Wellens has confirmed his 21-man squad who will take on Huddersfield Giants on Thursday night at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm.

Round Nine of Betfred Super League 2024 starts with a bang, as the Saints welcome the West Yorkshire side for Thursday night action at the home of the Red V.

The Saints are currently in second spot in the league standing, heading up a pack of three clubs on equal points with the edge in favour of St.Helens thanks to points difference, which was greatly boosted after a professional performance over Hull FC last Friday night finished 58-0 in our favour.

Following that big win over the Black & Whites, the Saints host Huddersfield Giants on Thursday with an aim of securing back-to-back wins and further lay down a marker of our intent to fight for the top spot.

Huddersfield are in fine form, five wins in a row across the Challenge Cup and Super League, and last time out they came back from 12 points behind twice to beat Leeds Rhinos on the road.

Saints boss Wellens makes just one change to the squad he last announced, with Lewis Dodd stepping out of the squad and Tee Ritson coming in. The Cumbrian speedster has yet to make a First Team appearance in the 2024 season, but on Sunday was on dual-registration with Swinton Lions and scored two tries in a big victory over Dewsbury Rams.

Paul Wellens will be speaking the media at his weekly press conference later on this afternoon (Tuesday, 23rd April), which will be available to watch in full on Saints TV.
