Two St.Helens teams are in action on Friday night, the Saints Women take on Wigan Warriors Women in The Derby at 5:15pm, followed by our First Team welcoming Catalans Dragons to the Totally Wicked Stadium for an 8pm kick-off.
- St.Helens Women vs Wigan Warriors Women – Betfred Women’s Super League – Round 5 – 5:15pm KO
- St.Helens vs Catalans Dragons – Betfred Super League – Round 13 – 8pm KO
We are encouraging supporters to arrive at our home, the Totally Wicked Stadium, early to see both matches and cheer on both of our teams! Please note the earlier time of the Women’s Derby Day clash, which is fifteen minutes earlier than last week’s WSL fixture.
The Saints Women are looking to keep building momentum one week out from Wembley Stadium and the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final. First up, it’s no easy task as our side take on Wigan who currently sit on top of the WSL ladder with four wins to their record. Matty Smith’s charges got the job done over Leeds Rhinos last Friday night, 12-6, who they will face at the national stadium next Saturday.
Our First Team Saints are doing it tough with injuries but that did not stop them last time out, a brilliant second half performance saw them run riot against the Rhinos men and win 40-10. Ahead of a week off due to the Cup final, we face a formidable unit with the Catalans Dragons coming to town. The French side are smarting after suffering a loss at home to Warrington last weekend.
Paul Wellens makes two changes to the squad he announced for the big win over Leeds.
A hand fracture is expected to keep Jonny Lomax out for around four weeks, and ankle ligament damage will rule Joe Batchelor unavailable for around eight to nine weeks.

Into the 21-man side then comes youngsters Jake Burns and Leon Cowen, however it remains notable that Agnatius Paasi keeps his spot in the squad too, who if he should play would mark his return to Super League action for the first time in 10 months after suffering a season-ending injury last season in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final.
For Leon Cowen it is the first time he has been named in Wellens’ senior 21-man selection since making the move up from our 2023 Academy Champions side, where he served as Captain, into the First Team for 2024.

The Saints are looking to end Wigan’s 100% start to the league campaign, a win for Matty Smith’s side would move the Red V level on points with the Cherry and Whites.
Wigan’s last victory over Saints came in the 2018 playoffs at Robin Park Arena, a 10-6 win for the Cherry and Whites. Saints have won the last seven meetings since that fixture and are looking to extend that run to eight.
