Try-scoring forward Vicky Whitfield joined the Saints' Head of Women's Pathways & Performance Jodie Cunningham to give their post-match thoughts following our 24-8 win over local neighbours Wigan Warriors.
It was a much improved second half for the Red V against the current league leaders and ended their four-match winning run in Betfred Women’s Super League. It was a tough test for Saints too just one week away from the big clash against Leeds Rhinos at Wembley Stadium for the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup.
Whitfield talked about how the team made it tough for themselves in the opening period, but that the second half showed more of what our game should be. Cunningham then discussed the Saints/Wigan derby getting bigger and better as the Warriors continue to improve and develop their squad, and how we look to keep leading and being pacesetters as one of the top women’s teams in rugby league.
