The re-arranged fixture between the Under 18s sides of St.Helens and Huddersfield Giants takes place at Ruskin Drive on Friday, 7th June!
This Round 4 match of the Academy Championship season was originally scheduled to be a curtain raiser back in April for the Saints and Giants’ Betfred Super League meeting, however the poor weather meant the match needed to be postponed.
With the Totally Wicked Stadium pitch out of action due to the work commencing on our new pitch during the month of June, the Saints Academy are going over to Ruskin Drive.
Our Under 18s are currently on a three-match winning run which began back in the middle of April besting Warrington Wolves on the road. A trip to The Jungle followed almost a month later due to the original postponement of this match, and St.Helens put on a dominant show to win 6-72.
Last time out, Derek Traynor’s young charges confidently beat Leeds Rhinos at the Totally Wicked Stadium by 46-10. The Saints are sat in second in the league table, but have a game in hand on Wigan who are the team above by just two points. There is added motivation for Saints to get the win to go top of the table as they have a better points difference on the team sat in first.
The Giants are currently occupying the sixth spot in the league ladder, in their 2024 season so far they have wins over Hull KR and Bradford Bulls at home, plus an away victory over Wakefield Trinity. They have lost to Hull FC and Wigan Warriors at home though too, so they will be eager to get a result on Friday evening.
