This week for the Saints

Two matches for St.Helens this week with our First Team and Academy both in action, one at home, one on the road.

Our Under 18s are up first on Saturday and host Bradford Bulls at Blackbrook ARLFC, then on Sunday the First Team are back on the road to face Salford Red Devils.

See all the key information for the two matches below.

SATURDAY

Academy vs Bradford Bulls (H)

St.Helens’ Under 18s will play this home clash at local club Blackbrook ARLFC due to the ongoing work with our new pitch at the Totally Wicked Stadium, and entry will be FREE! So why not go see our next-gen in action?!

At the halfway point of the season, the Saints are currently top of the Academy Championship table after playing their re-arranged clash with Huddersfield Giants just under a fortnight ago at Ruskin Drive. It was a clinical, dominant victory for the Red V, running out 70-4 victors with Harry Robertson the star on the night scoring an astonishing seven tries.

That victory over Huddersfield extended our Academy’s winning run to four matches, coming on the back of results over Leeds Rhinos at home, as well as Castleford and Warrington away. Can our young Saints make it five wins on the spin? Be there to find out!

  • Saturday, 22nd June
  • Kick-off at 1pm
  • Blackbrook, St Helens, WA11 9BB
  • Match entry is FREE

SUNDAY

First Team vs Salford Red Devils (A)

After a dominant victory last Sunday away at Twickenham Stoop Stadium over London Broncos 6-52, the Red V face he Red Devils who are in a good run of form.

Paul Rowley’s side beat London themselves at home at the start of June, then last week put in a strong performance over Challenge Cup finalists Warrington taking a 0-19 lead at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in the first half, eventually running out 14-25 victors.

Heading into this week’s action our hosts on Sunday hold a nine wins and five losses record and sit in fifth place. One of those wins came over Saints in March, ending a 44 year wait to win away at St.Helens.

Wellens’ troops are in a positive mood and on a four-match winning run after victories over Castleford, Leeds, Catalans and London. Sat currently at the top of the Super League table with Wigan behind on points difference, but with a game in hand, and with the top six race tight – every result counts. Saints will also be highly motivated to get one back over Salford after the narrow loss back in March.
