Our Scholars welcomed the Leeds Rhinos down at Blackbrook...
It was a great start for the Saints, with Leeds sending the ball out on the full from kick-off. This got the Saints up other end of the field, and straight into an attacking position for the Saints. Playing to the right of the field, the ball was played into the path of Luke Brighouse who stepped inside beating the Rhinos centre and fullback to score. Alfie Maden stepped up to convert, and did just that nailing the kick from an awkward angle, 6-0 the Saints led!
Leeds however replied soon after. Playing to their left, the Rhinos fed the ball quickly down their short side, finding winger T0m Richardson who raced down the sideline to score. Zac Lloyd converted from the side-line, 6-6.
With 6 minutes to go, Leeds would cross over for a second, with Sonny Hetherington crossing over in the corner. Harvey Butterworth spotted the Saints defence stretched down their short side, before firing a ball to Hetherington who would dive over in the corner. Lloyd missed the conversion this time, 6-10 at the break.
The Second half started off a cagey affair, with both sides defending their lines strong, and both sharing opportunities to score. But, Leeds would be the side to cross over for the final try of the game, with Jack Smith crossing over in the corner, despite looking like he was tackled into touch, the winger was judged to have scored. Lloyd converted, leaving the final score at 6-16.
Another tough, gritty game for our Scholars, who once again battled away in a great contest with the Leeds Rhinos! Up next is Huddersfield Giants away at Laund Hill, as we look to respond with a win.
