Ahead of Army Rugby League's 2024 Armed Forces Day Weekend, St.Helens R.F.C. were delighted to welcome the 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment to our training facility.
The big weekend of rugby league action for the Armed Forces takes place in Warrington on Saturday (29th June) and to step up their prep for their match against the Merican Regiment, our Club gave our friends from Cyprus a full day in the life of a professional rugby league player.
Head of Performance at St.Helens R.F.C., Matt Daniels explains more with Saints TV – please watch in the video below.
As Daniels details, the Saints went over to Cyprus as part of a pre-season camp back in January which was designed to test the players both physically and mentally. Our players and staff were based on site at the Regiment’s camp, and all their staff were incredibly helpful.
Just over five months on from the pre-season camp, for the Saints it was brilliant to be able to welcome plenty of familiar faces to our training facility, further establishing a strong relationship with the 1st Battalion the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.
