A quick report on which of our St.Helens players have been out on dual-registration with Swinton Lions this past weekend (29th & 30th of June).
Two of our Saints were on duty for other clubs on the weekend just gone, so here is your quick recap…
Doncaster 18-8 Swinton Lions – Jake Burns & Jonny Vaughan
The Lions took on Doncaster at Featherstone Rovers’ home The Millennium Stadium, with Burns starting as Alan Kilshaw’s choice for hooker, and Vaughan returning back to Swinton’s team to go in at the back-row.
Fifteen minutes into the game Doncaster were down to eleven men after Brett Ferres and Pauli Pauli were sin binned for a high shot and a dangerously late tackle respectively. Swinton made the advantage pay with Joe Purcell getting a converted try for the early lead.
Nip and tuck the only other points in the opening half came from more Doncaster ill-discipline, a tackle off the ball penalty which the Lions elected to kick for an eight-point advantage at the break.

Into the second half, Doncaster shot back into the game with former Wakefield man Reece Lynn going from dummy half and powering over, ten minutes later the Dons took the lead off a bulldozing run by former Hull FC & Castleford man Bureta Faraimo at the hour mark. The game clincher came with under seven to go with Tom Halliday grounding a clever chipped kick.
A disappointing evening for the Lions who didn’t score a point in the second half and let their lead slip.
