Head Coach Paul Wellens has announced his 21-man St.Helens squad that will take on Warrington Wolves at the Totally Wicked Stadium, this Friday night at 8pm.
ACADEMY CLASH UP FIRST
Our home ground will play host to a double header of action, with a repeat of the 2023 Academy Championship Grand Final between St.Helens and Warrington Wolves.
Both young sides have aspirations to reach the final once more in 2024 with Saints currently at the top of the table, whilst Warrington are in third, just two points off the Red V, who also have a significantly better points difference.
Join us at the Totally Wicked Stadium early on Friday night, with kick-off at 5:15pm, and cheer on our next generation of Saints stars!
🔻 SAINTS WELCOME WOLVES IN THE SUPER LEAGUE
The Saints First Team also take on the Wolves in Round 18 of Betfred Super League, and will be fighting hard to avoid a fourth straight defeat following very narrow losses by two points to Salford and Castleford, and just a four point difference last week at the current league leaders Wigan.
There was plenty of positives to take from the last round’s performance, and heading into another local rivalry this week, Wellens needs his men to be at that level of intensity again, despite the number of key Saints currently out injured.
Further motivation is not needed, but Friday night offers a chance to get one back over the team that knocked Saints out of the men’s Challenge Cup earlier this season too.

The Saints boss makes two changes to the squad that was announced for last week’s derby, with Leon Cowen and Will Roberts stepping out.
Moses Mbye is now back available for selection after serving his one-match penalty notice, and Saints Academy player Owen Dagnall is called up for the first time into the senior 21-man side!
Our 18-year-old outside back has been with the Club since he was fourteen, joining from community club Halton Farnworth Hornets to be part of our Scholarship development programme, then progressing into the Academy.
Owen has starred at wing and centre for St.Helens Under 18s side, scoring 21 times across 15 matches over the past two seasons, including a try in both the Semi-Final and Grand Final as the Saints claimed the Academy Championship last Autumn. Dagnall also earned Lancashire and England representation honours, playing for his national Academy side in both 2023 and 2024. Owen’s development has continued with our Reserves side, scoring seven more four-pointers across five matches in the last two seasons.
Following his inclusion in Paul Wellens’ 21-man squad declaration, Owen Dagnall has been issued the squad number #34 for the 2024 season.
