On Wednesday 24th July, some of our St. Helens Women's side visited their old club Thatto Heath Crusaders to receive a special gift from the club!
Our Captain Jodie Cunningham was joined by Rebecca Rotheram, Pip Birchall, Chantelle Crowl and Naomi Williams, as they received their playing shirts from their former club. Plenty more of our former Crusaders players will also receive their old shirts in the coming months. The players received their playing kit from the 2013 to 2017 seasons from their former club.
Since leaving Thatto Heath Crusaders for the Red V back in 2018, the girls have gone on to win Four Challenge Cup titles, alongside a League Leaders Shield and a Grand Final win. Cunningham was also named Woman of Steel back in 2021. During their time at Crusader Park, the team won three Challenge Cup and three Grand Finals.
Captain Cunningham brought her shirt back to the Totally Wicked Stadium, having won seven Challenge Cup titles during her career across the two St. Helens clubs!
Several other Saints stars also came to the club from Thatto Heath Crusaders, with the likes of Erin McDonald and Meg Williams the most recent high profile names joining the Red V from the club.
Players at Thatto posed for a picture with the Saints players, after they were presented with their old shirts by the club.
There was plenty more going on during Wednesday at Crusader Park too. Popular Saints Community Development Foundation programme RugBees had its last session of the year at Crusader Park from 6pm to 7pm. Several of the Saints players at the event helped out during the event and they posed for a picture with the Challenge Cup trophy at the end of the session.
