Loan Recap

Two of our Saints were out on duty for the North Wales Crusaders this past weekend.

Workington Town 24-28 North Wales Crusaders – Ben Lane & Alfie Sinclair

It was valuable match minutes for our two youngsters, with Lane starting at fullback and Sinclair named at loose-forward for the Welsh outfit.

For Sinclair, one of our Saints Reserves it allowed the forward the chance to start in a Betfred League One fixture and step up.

Crusaders went down 12-0 in the first fifteen minutes, struck back one which was converted by former Saint Dan Moss, but then two more tries came for Workington. With seven minutes to go, Patrick Ah Van got a second North Wales four-pointer which was turned into six.

Right before the half time break, Town who were leading 22-12 were down a man with Jordan Burns shown a red card for a foul play in the tackle. Crusaders made the extra man count, but it was not until after the hour mark they could, with captain Chris Barratt getting two converted tries for 22-24 score line.

Adding further drama, the hosts levelled the game from a penalty with less than ten to go. In the final minutes, our Saint Ben Lane caught an offload from a teammate who was in the tackle, placed a troublesome grubber which Wokington could not deal with and Cole Oakley grounded the ball for a match winning try!
