Two games, two derbies against our nearest and dearest this week for St.Helens!
Friday night gets our weekend’s action started with a big game in the Academy Championship and our Saints heading over to Wigan Rugby Union to face the Warriors. Then on Saturday, at the home of Leeds United, Paul Wellens’ men take Wigan in Round 22 of Betfred Super League at MAGIC WKND.

FRIDAY
A huge clash awaits in the Academy Championship as our Under 18 Saints head over Billinge Hill and into Wigan to face the Warriors for a table topping clash.
Both the Red V and Wigan are level on points with nine wins in ten matches so far in the 2024 campaign, however Saints do have a significantly better points difference to be sat at the top heading into this round.
Derek Traynor’s aspiring players are currently on a six-match winning run which stretches back to April, however that one loss back in March was at home against Wigan who edged out a 10-12 result at Ruskin Drive.
St.Helens Academy last time out went away to Hull FC a fortnight ago and beat the Black & Whites 18-30, with a convincing first half and lessons to be learned from the the second period. With just two games to go in the regular season, our young guns will be motivated to perform well against our local rivals.

SATURDAY
First Team vs Wigan Warriors (MAGIC WKND)
It is always a big clash when the Saints meet our oldest foes the Warriors, and at a neutral venue as we head into the back straight of the regular season with every point and every result being important, The Derby is Saturday’s main event for MAGIC WKND.
Saints have shaken off a poor run of results in July to win back-to-back games but are now eager to build a run of consistency and wins to move back up the table. Last Thursday night, the Red V beat a strong Salford side in Golden Point Extra Time.
Wigan are sat second in the table but head into Round 21 on the back of a big loss to Leeds Rhinos, they have however caught up on their game in hand but sit behind Hull KR on points difference.
