On what was an afternoon to forget against Hull KR, one bright spark from the fixture was the scoring debut of George Whitby. Saints TV caught up with our latest debutante.
The former Blackbrook Royals junior has worked through our youth development system at St.Helens from the age of 14 with our Scholarship programme, progressing into the Academy and playing for our Reserves too.
As a lifelong Saints supporter too, it was an incredibly proud moment for George who even shared there were tears when he saw his family after making his first appearance in the Red V.
Reflecting on the match itself, the half-back shared his honest thoughts following the defeat and shared the team’s mindset of wanting and needing to stick together.
Now after getting his first taste of senior match action, he wants to earn even more match opportunities.
