Makinson ban reduced to two matches

Following a meeting with the Operational Rules Tribunal on Tuesday (27th August), Tommy Makinson's three-match penalty notice issued by the Match Review Panel has now been reduced to two matches.

The Saints winger was initially charged by the MRP following St.Helens’ Round 23 Betfred Super League fixture against Hull KR on Saturday afternoon for a Grade D ‘Head Contact’ charge, he was also fined £250.

The Club challenged the grading of the charge with the ORT on Tuesday evening and was successful in reducing it down to a Grade C charge, which also resulted in a reduction of the suspension notice.

Makinson will be unavailable for selection for the Saints’ next two matches which are Huddersfield Giants away this Sunday afternoon, followed Warrington Wolves away the following Saturday. The winger will return to availability for our final home match of the regular season against Castleford Tigers on Friday, 13th September.
