A big week ahead for St.Helens with three matches, including the Reserves Grand Final at the Totally Wicked Stadium this Sunday!
A double dose of action happens on Saturday with the Women’s and First Team taking on Warrington Wolves away, however please note it is not a double header with the Women’s match taking place at Victoria Park.
Sunday is a very big occasion as the Saints host our old foes Wigan for the title of Reserves Champions in the Reserves Grand Final!
See the key information for all three matches below.
SATURDAY
Women vs Warrington Wolves (A)
Following their return to action last Sunday, Matty Smith’s troops head over to Warrington on the back of a good win over Huddersfield Giants.
Our Saints Women hold a thirteen match winning run across all competitions, still atop the Betfred Women’s Super League table with a two-point margin. There are just two matches left in the regular season and the race for the League Leader’s Shield remains tight, with every result vital.
The Red V have faced the Wire twice already in 2024 in the group stage of the Women’s Challenge Cup during April, winning 6-58, and then in July the Saints hosted Warrington at the Totally Wicked Stadium and comfortably seeing them off 82-0.
- Saturday, 7th September 2024
- Kick-off at 12pm
- Victoria Park, WA4 1DQ
- Match entry will be £5 for adults, £2 for Under 16s
First Team vs Warrington Wolves (A)
Paul Wellens’ Saints picked up a much-needed victory last Sunday afternoon against Huddersfield as we look to consolidate our spot in the top six of the Betfred Super League table. The race for the play-offs is tight with teams fighting to get into the post-regular-season mix.
Still shorn of a number of senior Saints, the win over the Giants returned the Red V to winning form with three regular rounds of the campaign to go. Youngsters such as Jonny Vaughan and Harry Robertson, who grabbed his first senior score last time out, have been gaining valuable match experience.
It will be the third meeting of the 2024 season between Saints and Warrington, firstly back in April the Wolves knocked St.Helens out of the Challenge Cup, and then in July the Wire won our home Super League fixture.
So Saturday’s fixture offers the opportunity to make it back-to-back wins, keep pushing to cement our place in the play-0ffs, and get a small bit of revenge against the Wolves. The Red V will be heading to the Halliwell Jones Stadium looking to keep a good run of form against the Wolves at their home as we have won the last four away days on their turf.
- Saturday, 7th September 2024
- Kick-off at 3pm
- Halliwell Jones Stadium, WA2 7NE

SUNDAY
Reserves vs Wigan Warriors (H) – Grand Final
Derek Hardman’s young Saints have deservedly finished in first place with nine victories from the twelve round season boasting an impressive points difference too of 234. One league point below in second place were our local foes Wigan who had eight wins and one draw in their campaign.
The Warriors are current Reserves Champions from the previous two seasons following the resumption of the competition in 2022 and following the Covid pandemic. Saints fell short in the Grand Final at Robin Park last year in wet conditions, and will be looking to finish this Reserves year on a high with silverware.
So, The Derby will determine who is the Reserves Champions, and with a home advantage we need our supporters out in force to back our young men and cheer them on!
