Ahead of this autumn's two-game series against Samoa, a 31-man performance squad has been named and four of our St.Helens players have been selected.
Head Coach Shaun Wane has announced his squad list, with the selected players set to meet for an off-field session on Monday, 16th September.
Tommy Makinson was included in Wane’s squad but has withdrawn due to personal reasons.
England will take on Samoa in the first match on Sunday, 27th October at The Brick Community Stadium in Wigan (2:30pm KO), and then the second encounter takes place six days later on Sunday, 2nd November at AMT Headingley Stadium in Leeds.

Our Saints players selected for the England Performance Squad are:
- Daryl Clark – the hooker has fit in perfectly since taking up the Red V for the 2024 season, he started at #9 for England’s whitewash over Tonga last autumn. Clark has eleven appearances for England to his name so far.
- Morgan Knowles – our loose-forward played in the first match of the Tonga series but sadly missed the other two fixtures due to a thumb injury. Knowles has played six times for England, four of which were at the Rugby League World Cup in 2022.
- Matty Lees – one of the standout performers for the Saints this season, the prop featured for England in the mid-season international against France and started at prop for all three of the matches last year against Tonga. Our #10 has six England caps so far, three of them earned at the Rugby League World Cup in 2022.
- Jack Welsby – a key man for both club and country, Welsby became the youngest man to ever captain England at the end of 2023 and led out the side in the opening two victories against Tonga. Like Lees, Welsby went over to France to play in the mid-season test against France and scored twice. Jack has nine England caps to his name to date, five from the Rugby League World Cup.

On the squad, Shaun Wane said: “I’m pleased to have been able to put together a strong and talented squad as we look ahead to the end-of-season Test Matches against Samoa.
“There have been several players who have been performing consistently in both the Betfred Super League and the NRL and it has given me some real competition for places.
“With a few weeks still left in both domestic campaigns, I am expecting these players to continue to stand up at the business end of the season and earn their place in the final squad I assemble to face Samoa.
“There is definitely a bit of history and rivalry between ourselves and the Samoans following the Rugby League World Cup in 2022, and we will be hoping people come out to support us as we look for a series victory on home soil.”
