The Saints take on Wigan Warriors in the 2024 Academy Grand Final on Wednesday, 25th September at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 7:30pm.
Our Under 18 Saints finished top of the Academy Championship table following the twelve-round regular season. That first placed finish meant that Derek Traynor’s Saints earned a home Semi-Final against Hull FC which was played on Monday, 16th September.
The Red V put in a strong performance against the Black & Whites, running out 38-6 winners to earn the home advantage for the Grand Final.
Wigan Warriors who finished second in the league table hosted Warrington Wolves (3rd) for the other Semi-Final at Wigan Rugby Union, winning 22-16.
St.Helens are seeking to retain the Academy Championship crown after winning last year’s Grand Final, whilst the Warriors will be targeting their first Academy title since 2019. The Derby will determine this year’s Academy Champions, with both sides showcasing their future stars it is a match not to be missed!

Supporters wishing to attend the Saints’ Academy Grand Final match against Wigan Warriors can enter the Totally Wicked Stadium by heading to the South Stand of our ground. Turnstiles 1-9 in the South West section and Turnstiles 10-14 in the South East will be open for supporters from 6:30pm before the 7:30pm kick-off.
Tickets are available online now – or supporters wishing to pay on the day can do so at the Turnstiles via contactless payment only.

📖 THE SAINTS ACADEMY STORY SO FAR IN 2024…
After becoming the Academy Champions in 2023, our Under 18 St.Helens hold an aim to make it back-to-back titles. The competitive season officially began in the middle of March away at Leeds Rhinos, a tight tussle saw the Red V get an away day win to start the year off 22-32.
March finished with The Derby and Saints welcoming our local rivals Wigan to Ruskin Drive, and just like the first round it was a narrow game which the visitors edged by a single conversion 10-12. The first, and so far as we now head into the play-offs, only defeat of the Saints’ Academy season.
April was a quiet month but at Victoria Park in Warrington a good victory 12-26 over the Wolves got the second victory of the campaign. Whilst in May, the Red V piled on the points with a mammoth 6-72 scoreline over Castleford Tigers at The Jungle, followed by a 46-10 home showing against Leeds.
Keeping their confidence rolling, Derek Traynor’s youngsters put both Huddersfield Giants (70-4) and Bradford Bulls (6406) to the sword in June in home fixtures that were played away from the Totally Wicked Stadium due to the work being undertaken for our new pitch surface. Returning to play at our home stadium in July, our Academy comfortably beat Warrington Wolves 28-4 in a curtain raiser ahead of the Super League meeting between the two clubs.
August was an important month with two big away days, firstly going to Hull FC on a Friday night and earning a 18-30 victor. Then a match of the utmost importance for a top of the table finish, going to Wigan Warriors at Wigan Rugby Union. In an enthralling game our Under 18s beat our old foes 18-32 to set up a possible table topping finish.
A win over Wakefield Trinity in the final regular season round was needed to confirm first place, and a comfortable victory by 40-12 did just that and earned a home Academy Semi-Final against Hull FC.
A dominant opening quarter saw Traynor’s young troops blow the Black & Whites away, and whilst Hull came back at the Saints to compete and contest a physical battle, St.Helens had done more than enough to get the job done – setting up a mouth-watering Grand Final against the old enemy Wigan!
