Wellens names Saints to face Leigh

Head Coach Paul Wellens has announced his 21-man St.Helens squad that will take on Leigh Leopards this Friday, 20th September at the Leigh Sports Village at 8pm.

It is the final regular season round of the 2024 Betfred Super League season, and the Red V will be fighting to secure a play-off spot. Should Wellens’ men get the result against the Leythers and other results go in our favour, a fourth-placed finish could be achieved, earning a home play-off fixture.

Saints last time out had a number of senior players return to action following injuries and put on a great show to best Castleford 40-4 at the Totally Wicked Stadium. As we head into the knockout stages of the campaign, good form is essential, so St.Helens will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins.

For further motivation, Saints need look no further than their last visit to the LSV which saw a depleted St.Helens team go down heavily to the Leopards in July. Friday night offers the team a chance to right some wrongs against a fellow play-off contender.

Leigh have scratched and clawed their way into the hunt for a top-six spot, sitting in sixth heading into the final round. Their scenario is simple, win and they are in, but should they lose there is a chance Leeds or Catalans could leapfrog them into the play-offs. With it also serving as their final home match of the year and a whole host of their players leaving, they will be very much up for this fixture.

Over 1,100 Saints supporters have secured their tickets to be in that number at the Leigh Sports Village! Want to join them? Full ticketing and travel information can be found by clicking here!
