St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens looks ahead to this Saturday evening's big game against Warrington Wolves!
It is Play-Offs time and the Saints are going to one of our nearest and dearest with knockout rugby to be played, one team’s season will continue, the other team’s will end. St.Helens are determined and highly motivated to ensure the Club head into the final four and keep up our bid for a spot at Old Trafford and the Grand Final.
It is a different scenario for the Red V than in recent years with a sixth-placed finish in the regular season meaning that we must go away and win twice to get to the showpiece finale. That challenge is one Wellens is embracing after what has been a tough season, with do-or-die rugby now to be played.
The Wolves have been flying high in 2024, and so far in 2024 they have managed to get the result over Saints in the league and the Challenge Cup. Head Coach Wellens believes with a number of our senior Saints returning from injuries, and with some improvements to our play, that this knockout competition can be an exciting one for his men.
Wellens also reveals that Moses Mbye is set to be ruled out of action for a few weeks following a pulled calf which was suffered in the warm-up at last week’s match against Leigh. Alex Walmsley missed out last week due to illness but is expected to return, whilst Curtis Sironen is close to a return and will be monitored throughout the week.
