Following a narrow and agonising loss to Wigan Warriors in the 2024 Academy Grand Final, the Saints Academy Head Coach Derek Traynor reflects on a positive season for his Under 18s side.
The Red V came oh so close to getting the victory over our nearest and dearest, but the Warriors managed to just hold on for the win in the finale. Straight after the game, Traynor spoke positively about the match despite some small moments at the end where calmer heads might have got the result.
With the majority of our Under 18s in their first seasons in the Academy programme, Traynor was proud of their efforts and knows they will have the memory loggd to go better and improve as players.
For some of the team, players such as George Whitby, Harry Roberson and Owen Dagnall, they will now fully progress into the First Team environment having thrived in the Saints Academy system.
In a thank you to all involved in our youth development programme, Derek shared his gratitude for all our staff for their hard work in the 2024 Academy season.
