Matty Lees reflects on the 2024 season after being named the Saints' Player of the Year, as well as both the Members' and Players' Player of the Year!
The England international prop was the big winner at St.Helens’ annual End of Season Awards, picking up three accolades on the night after an incredible season for our team.
Lees has been a consistent top performer in the Red V in 2024, a season which has seen a lot of our senior men sadly suffer injuries which led to men such as Lees trying to step up and do even more.
Our #10 was recognised by; our fans who voted for him to be the Members’ Player of the Year, his teammates who chose him as our Players’ Player, and his coaches for the big prize of Player of the Year.
An overwhelmed Matty spoke to Saints TV about being given the three prizes, despite being a little lost of words, and whilst he was delighted he said he would trade any individual trophy for a team trophy at any time.
An honest assessment of the past season, Lees knows we as a Club demand better results and that having come through a tough campaign, our squad and our young players especially will be better for the experiences.
