Dressed up for the formal dinner, Matty Smith was the main Saints star of the night picking up the 2024 Betfred Women’s Super League Coach of the Year Award!
Under Matty Smith St.Helens Women only lost two matches all season, picking up two trophies in the process with the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup at Wembley Stadium, followed by the League Leaders’ Shield after coming top of the table in the regular season.
Smith’s side just fell narrowly short of completing a historic treble of trophies, with a heartbreaking defeat in the Grand Final.
George Delaney was shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year accolade, and Faye Gaskin was also nominated for the Woman of Steel prize too.
As two former Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award winners, James Roby (2007) and Daryl Clark (2104) were invited to see who would be joining them in the illustrious honour of being the outstanding performer in a Super League season – and that man was Hull KR’s Mikey Lewis.
