Ahead of his first season as a St.Helens player, Tristan Sailor has been issued the iconic number 6 shirt for the upcoming 2025 rugby league season.
Already in the UK, Sailor arrives at the Saints on a two-year contract from NRL club Brisbane Broncos where he has been playing for the last two seasons, after making his senior debut with the St George Illawarra Dragons.
An exciting talent, Tristan can play at half-back or fullback, and with his skillset of fast pace, clever passing, and smart kick selection, he comes to our team looking to make an impact.
The number 6 at St.Helens R.F.C. has been worn by some legendary players throughout our 151-year history, and there is a rich heritage that is associated with the shirt.
Ahead of the Super League era of rugby league, men such as; Austin Rhodes, Leslie Fairclough, Ken Kelly, Frank Myler, Shane Cooper, and Chris Arkwright, to name just a few, proudly wore the Saints’ number 6 when playing in the stand-off position.
Fan favourite Tommy Martyn also wore the number before reverting to his iconic number 20 shirt during the early years of the Super League competition.
In the Super League era, players have been assigned squad numbers for full campaigns, and Saints including Karle Hammond, Leon Pryce, Theo Fages, and current Club Captain Jonny Lomax have served as the Red V’s number six.
Upon finding out that he will be the Saints’ number 6 in 2025, the first assigned squad number of his career, Tristan Sailor was delighted and immediately shared the good news along with a photo to his family back in Australia.
St.Helens Squad Numbers for 2025 will be revealed in full very soon.
