St.Helens R.F.C. was thrilled to donate £3,285 from our Match Worn Shirt Auction of which all the proceeds have been donated to local charity Willowbrook Hospice.
Our thanks go out to principal club partners Totally Wicked, who kindly chose to gift their kit sponsorship for the Saints’ away fixture against Catalans Dragons which was played in Round 7 of Betfred Super League in April.
Furthermore, Totally Wicked donated part of their kit branding on all Saints Junior Replica Shirts in 2024 as well.
The Saints shirts that were worn in the First Team’s fixture in France were put up for auction, with all proceeds going to the Hospice. This gave supporters the chance to own a very unique piece of memorabilia, whilst doing some good for a local charitable cause.
This auction was just one of the initiatives the Club has done this year to support Willowbrook. In August, the Saints held a takeover fixture with the Hospice, with the charity kindly gifting Saints fans plenty of Willowbrook branded goodies, and members of their staff collected donations from supporters around the ground.
Back in June, Head Coach Paul Wellens and Leadership, Culture & Performance Coach James Roby also visited Willowbrook Hospice to present them with their official framed and signed charity partner shirts.
Every penny to Willowbrook Hospice makes a difference as an independent charity that provides to our local community, specialist palliative care for patients with complex needs.
Since opening its doors in 1997, over 10,000 people have been kindly cared for in the best possible way, thanks to the Hospice. Their care is not charged but relies on significant fundraising efforts alongside a modest contribution from the NHS. Donations and their retail business charitable shops are vital to ensuring their outstanding level of care can continue to be provided.
Our partnership with Willowbrook continues to go from strength to strength, and the Saints are thrilled to continue working with the Hospice again in 2025.
Alun Owen, Corporate Director at Willowbrook Hospice, said: “We at Willowbrook Hospice wish to express our heartfelt thanks to St Helens R.F.C. for their incredible partnership and unwavering support throughout the 2024 season. It has been wonderful to connect with staff, players, and fans of the Club.
“We are looking forward to continuing this meaningful partnership and achieving even greater things together next season.”
Dave Hutchinson, General Manager at St.Helens R.F.C. added: “It is an absolute pleasure for the Club to contribute to Willowbrook Hospice’s fundraising, and we would like to thank our Principal Club partners Totally Wicked for their kind gesture in replacing their logo with Willowbrook Hospice on the Saints’ away shirts for this year’s trip to Catalans Dragons.
“The Hospice does an amazing job for the local community, offering much comfort to those who need it, but to do this costs a massive amount of money, therefore any contribution, large or small is very important.
“Finally, we would like to thank everybody who bid for the jerseys, or who gave to the collection on our home Super League fixture against Salford Red Devils. You have all helped make a difference, and we will be repeating our support again of Willowbrook Hospice during the 2025 season.”
