Saints’ Third Round Challenge Cup opponents down to two

Hunslet ARLFC & West Hull remain in the hunt for the Third Round fixture against St.Helens in the 2025 Betfred Challenge Cup.

This past Tuesday night, the Saints found out that there were four possible opponents that we would be facing over the weekend of the 7th to the 9th of February; Stanley Rangers, Hunslet ARLFC, West Hull, and Edinburgh Eagles.

With all 12 Super League clubs entering rugby league’s oldest knockout competition a round earlier in 2025. The seeded draw guarantees that the 12 top flight teams will have an away fixture to one of the 20 Second Round winners. The snow caused disruption and cancellations to the First Round, so 14 of the 17 matches in the round are to be played this weekend, including the two ties that included the four teams the Saints were drawn for the Third Round.

Hunslet defeated Stanley in a tight and entertaining contest, 20-32, whilst West Hull ran riot against Edinburgh winning 90-0. The winners of the Second Round clash between Hunslet and West Hull have even more incentive to be at their best when they face, as the winner will welcome one of rugby league biggest and best clubs to their home for a Challenge Cup match.

Congratulations and good luck to both Hunslet and West Hull, and commiserations to Stanley and Edinburgh.
