Sunday, 2nd February 2025 was a big team group day for St.Helens Women, with a physically challenging boxing gym session, lunch out together, and watching Liverpool FC Women in action!
It was a very busy team day for the Saints Women, one that will have been brilliant for team bonding and connection building.
Head Coaches Craig Richards and Derek Hardman took the team to visit world-class boxer Martin Murray’s Think Fast Gym.

A winner of 11 different belts during his boxing career, Murray is a proud St Helens native and strongly supports both the Club and our local community.
In December the Gym welcomed our Reserves & Academy, and now to kick-off February the Red V Women have continued stepping up their prep for the Women’s 2025 Rugby League season, which starts in with the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Group Stage in April. Our team will be aiming to retain the Cup, a trophy the Saints have held for four straight years.

A big thank you to Dom and Martin for hosting the Saints, and for the delivering a physical and demanding session!
Following the boxing gym session, St.Helens Women then together went to visit former Head Coach Mark Brennan’s ReFuel cafe and restaurant for a team meal.

Based in Haydock, the eatery prides itself on healthy tasty food options – perfect for the Saints Women following a physically demanding exercise session. Our thanks to Mark and the team at ReFuel for feeding the team.
To close out a busy Sunday, the Saints Women together went to familiar surroundings, our home stadium, to watch Liverpool FC Women taking on West Ham Women in the Barclay’s Women’s Super League.
As a group social activity, our team enjoyed watching a different sport on the pitch they call home, and a 1-0 home win for the Reds over the Hammers.

LFC Women are in the middle of their first season since calling St Helens Stadium their new home venue back in May 2024 as part of a ten-year lease agreement. Ahead of their first match at the stadium in September, Head of Women’s Pathways & Saints Women’s captain Jodie Cunningham joined LFC Women’s Ambassador Natasha Dowie on the pitch as both presented special printed shirts to welcome Liverpool to St Helens.
🤝 It was fantastic to welcome @LiverpoolFCW legend Natasha Dowie today as we welcome the Reds to their new home stadium!
Best of luck to Liverpool, who get their season started this Sunday afternoon in St Helens, followed by @saints1890women’s Semi-Final in the evening #COYS pic.twitter.com/Linaikc0DJ

As February begins and the Saints’ Pre-Season ramps up, our England stars are also preparing for the trip to Las Vegas to take on Australia, as well as the BWSL and Cup campaigns. This big team-bonding Sunday was important, and one all the team thoroughly enjoyed as a collective.
