We caught up with Joe Batchelor following our win over East Hull in the Challenge Cup, on a day when he captained the side for the first time.
Joe said that all that really matters is that we’re in the hat for the next round, but paid credit to West Hull for the performance they put in on the day, going on to say they’re a great club, and put on a day to remember.
The fans were out in their numbers too with kick-off delayed due to the number of fans trying to get into the ground. Joe praised both sets of supporters, saying they showed what both clubs mean to their communities.
With a number of younger players in the squad, Joe said we knew they would need to step up for this game, and they did just that, putting in phenomenal performances to back up how well they’ve been training in the off-season.
He also spoke about how privileged he feels to have been named captain for the game, stating that not many people even get to play for this club, so to get to captain the side is something he has not taken lightly.
