Woosey called into Women’s Origin squad

St.Helens Women's Rachael Woosey has been called in to feature in Lancashire's squad for this weekend's Women's Origin fixture at Sewell Group Craven Park. The Saints' #6 Zoe Harris has sadly had to withdraw due to injury.

Rachael Woosey of St.Helens and Jade Gregory-Haselden of Wigan Warriors have received late calls into the Lancashire squad to replace Emily Baggaley and Zoe Harris.

Yorkshire have called up Izzy Brennan, a York Valkyrie youngster who impressed on the recent England Rugby League Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) trip to France. She replaces her Valkyrie clubmate Jasmine Bell.

The Women’s Origin match is the last chance for players to press their claims for inclusion in the England squad to play Wales in Neath on Saturday week (Saturday, 9th August) – with England Women head coach Stuart Barrow to finalise his squad over the weekend.

It is an Origin double-header at Sewell Group Craven Park on Saturday, 2nd August with the second Academy Origin clash of the year kicking off first at 12pm, followed by the Women’s match at 2pm.

Both games will be streamed live on the England YouTube channel.

The Saints are well represented in the Lancashire squad, with eight of our players selected. England and Saints captain Jodie Cunningham is joined in the Red Rose side by Luci McColm, Katie Mottershead, Emily Rudge, Beri Salihi, Darcy Stott, Vicky Whitfield, and now Rachael Woosey.

For the White Rose team, St.Helens have three women chosen to feature and they are Caitlin Casey, Phoebe Hook, and Shona Hoyle.

The second Women’s Origin of 2025 will be played on Sunday, 19th October – two weeks after the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final.
