Fundraiser for Micky Higham

A fundraising campaign has been set up to help rugby league legend Micky Higham following his latest stage four widespread metastasized cancer diagnosis.

The hooker who had a decorated sporting career played not only for St.Helens, but also for Leigh, Wigan, Warrington, and earned international honours too for both Great Britain and England, notching up over 500 match appearances.

Higham was initially diagnosed with a stage three melanoma in November 2022 after finding a lump under his arm in August that year, and following surgery and immunotherapy he was given the news he was cancer free. Sadly though, his fight with cancer is not over, and it has returned aggressively.

A Just Giving page has been set up for donations towards the family and potential access to clinical trials in Europe, as unfortunately there is no option for it here in the UK.

Over £40,000 has been kindly donated by the rugby league community, and if you can contribute a donation to help this fundraiser continue to rise, please do so.

Micky joined the Saints from the 2001 season, as rotation or cover for Keiron Cunningham, and his impact coming off the bench showed supporters just how good of a player he was and would go on to be. In 2002, Higham played his part coming off the bench in the Saints’ epic Grand Final victory over Bradford Bulls, 19-18. Over his four seasons for the Red V, Micky made 116 appearances, scoring 35 times for our club.

The Saints would like to express that our heartfelt thoughts are with Micky, and all his family and friends at this time.
