On Friday night (8th August), St.Helens are heading over to West Yorkshire to face Wakefield Trinity in Round 21 of the Betfred Super League!
The Saints are on the road this week and face a Wakefield side that is flying high in 2025 at the DIY Kitchens Stadium on Friday night, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm.
Paul Wellens’ men returned to action last Friday night, following a week with no game due to Super League’s split round, and put Castleford Tigers to the sword in a professional 40-0 home victory. That result moved the Red V into fourth place in the league table, with the Play-Offs race continuing to heat up as we move towards the run-in.
Wakefield Trinity have been rejuvenated with their new ownership from the end of 2023, sweeping all aside in the Championship in 2024, and now competing strongly in Super League 2025. The Trin are also firmly in the Play-Offs race, with Daryl Powell assembling an impressive squad.
Arguably, Trinity’s most impressive result of the season came in their last fixture a fortnight ago against Leeds Rhinos. Mason Lino’s last-minute drop-goal sent Belle Vue into raptures ahead of a week off due to the split round.
The Saints are looking to make it three wins over Wakefield in 2025, having already beaten them both at home and away. Wellens’ men went to the DIY Kitchens Stadium at the start of March, winning 6-26, and then backed that up with another victory at the Totally Wicked Stadium 26-14 in April.
Powell will no doubt be motivating his men to avoid a third loss to the Saints, whilst Wellens will want his men to build more consistency and be victorious over a fellow side that is currently in the top six.
It makes for an exciting showdown, and we hope to pack out that away terrace at the DIY Kitchens Stadium!
