Moses Mbye to leave Saints at the end of 2025

St.Helens R.F.C. can confirm that Moses Mbye will be leaving the Club at the end of the 2025 Betfred Super League season.

Moses Mbye is proudly sponsored at St.Helens by Baileys Landscapes.

Mbye will return home to Australia and will pursue a new opportunity with Queensland Rugby League club the Ipswich Jets.

First joining the Saints in July 2023, the versatile player fit in like a glove quickly into our team and has performed strongly ever since, whether playing at hooker or in the halves. To date, he has played 55 times for the Red V, scoring six tries and slotting over a drop-goal.

There have been plenty of wonderful moments with Moses as a Saint, such as his winning one-pointer which ensured a victory over Salford Red Devils in 2024, or his late scoot over in front of a packed-out away end at Warrington in 2023. This season, the 32-year-old has shown his worth in the halves, helping the team build positive consistency in matches.

Speaking about the news, Moses Mbye told saintsrlfc.com: “I’ve loved my time here, honestly, it has probably been the best few years of my life in terms of work/life balance, and experience-wise with my family as we got to come and travel the world and meet new people.

“It’s been such a great experience, seeing how the town gets behind their team through the highs and the lows. It’s a period of my life I will not take for granted, and we’re not finished yet. I want to finish on a high.

“When the time comes, I know it will be hard to say goodbye, and all I want to say to the Saints fans is, thank you, but not just our fans, to the whole St Helens community. It is such a good town and such a good environment that I’ve found to be so special to be a part of.”

Saints Head Coach Paul Wellens added: “Ever since joining the Club, Moses has been exceptional in our environment both on and off the field with his calming influence and strong leadership qualities.

“On behalf of all at the Saints, we want to wish Moses and his family all the best when they return home to Australia after the end of this current season. I know Moses is determined to give his all and finish his time with us in the best possible circumstances.”
