St.Helens' Tristan Sailor is on the six-man shortlist for the Glen's Vodka Player of the Month for August 2025!
It has been a remarkable summer for Tristan, who has shone in the Saints attack and taken his total try tally to 18, and his assists up to a remarkable 29 across in all competitions, as we September gets started.
Playing in all five of our matches in August, the versatile fullback played his part in four of our wins, logging up three tries and four assists.
Two of those assists came in the Red V’s home match against Castleford in Round 20, the first was a chip reverse kick which the Tigers could not deal with, Owen Dagnall did though and grounded the ball to continue his impressive start to Super League life. Sailor’s other assist was a thing of beauty, taking on the line following a dummy 30m out he held off a Cas defender and then flicked a no-look pass out to Kyle Feldt on the wing. Our #6 then got on the scoresheet himself after supporting a bursting run by Agnatius Paasi in the middle of the field, and racing under the sticks.
Over to Wakefield next, and the Saints put on a strong performance in West Yorkshire. In the second half, Alex Walmsley charged up on the left edge to put the Trin on the backfoot, over on the right edge Tristan placed a smart kick into the right corner which Harry Robertson got his hand to before running out of the field – a sensational score.
Then back at the Totally Wicked Stadium, Huddersfield were our visitors and Sailor put on another Player of the Match effort. Running hot Paul Wellens men had already grabbed two tries, but the third was scored by our #6 after timing his run under an Mbye bomb to perfection, he bettered the leap of his opposite man and pinched it in the air, then strolling into the in-goal for his first try of the game.
Continuing a dominant performance, in the opening minute of the second forty Tristan caught a Paasi offload and then sprinted through a gap, he cut out the Giants fullback with an inside pass to Jonny Lomax for his 29th assist of the season.
Rounding off his try involvements for the month in phenomenal fashion, deputising at hooker Sailor took the play of the ball from just beyond his own 30m line, he then stepped the marker tacklers and again put on the afterburners to race over 60m, beat the Huddersfield fullback and finish off one of the tries of the year.
