As we head into the final regular-season round and ahead of the Play-Offs, the Saints can confirm that Will Roberts, Dayon Sambou, and Jonny Vaughan will exit the Club at the end of the Betfred Super League 2025 season.
The Club would like to wish all three the best of luck in their next chapters.
Will Roberts
The 20-year-old joined the Saints at the age of fourteen to be part of our Scholarship programme, and he progressed into our Under 18s setup, playing his part in the 2023 Academy Championship-winning team. Ahead of the 2024 season, he joined the Saints’ First Team environment.
The former Rylands Sharks junior made his professional debut in the 2023 season on dual registration with Swinton Lions, but sadly, he suffered a knee injury, which halted his match time.
After working hard in his rehab, he returned to the field in 2024, featuring for our Reserves, Swinton again, and Rochdale Hornets on loan. In 2025, he has appeared for Widnes Vikings on loan, playing alongside his brother.
Dayon Sambou
A 20-year-old winger who progressed through both our Scholarship and Academy ranks, playing in the 2023 Academy title winning squad before moving up to the First Team from the 2024 campaign.
Dayon made a try-scoring Super League debut in March 2025 against Warrington at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
The former Woolston Rovers and Rylands Sharks junior has spent the second half of the season on loan with Halifax Panthers.
Jonny Vaughan
The 20-year-old back-row or centre is a product of the Saints Academy, having first joined the Saints at fourteen.
In the Under 18s he served as captain as St.Helens’ Academy won the 2023 Academy Championship, ahead of moving into the First Team environment ahead of 2024.
During the summer of 2024, Vaughan made his Super League debut against Castleford Tigers. 2025 saw him join Salford Red Devils on a season long loan.
