St.Helens R.F.C. is delighted to announce that England international hooker Daryl Clark has agreed to a contract extension, keeping him at the Saints until at least the end of the 2027 season!
Daryl Clark is proudly sponsored at the Saints by Vertical Lift Services.
Clark was already locked in for the 2026 season, however, the Club has ensured that one of the best talents in the Betfred Super League, a former Man of Steel Award winner, and a member of the England Ashes Test series squad, will remain in the Red V for even longer with an extension.
Our number nine joined the Club ahead of the 2024 season, taking over the shirt left by the legendary James Roby. He quickly made himself at home and established himself as an integral part of our team, linking up well with the rest of the spine, and rolling out of dummy half with darting runs off the back of our forwards.
There have been milestone moments for ‘Daz’ during his time in the Red V so far, such as scoring his 100th career try and making his 400th career appearance.
Daryl Clark said to saintsrlfc.com about the news: “I’ve really enjoyed it here since day one when I joined, all the lads made me feel so welcome straight away.
“I’ve loved the last two years, so I’m really happy to have another two years to come. Our aim now is to kick on as a team by being more consistent so that we can go that step further and win silverware.”
Already passed the 50-match mark in the Red V, Clark wants to keep racking up the numbers over the next two years at The BrewDog Stadium.
“I always want to be involved, and I’ve been lucky not to miss large chunks of the season. Hopefully, that continues because I want to play in as many games as I can for Saints and go win something here too.”
When asked if he believes that new Head Coach Paul Rowley’s style of play will suit him, the hooker shared his excitement.
“I think the way Paul likes to play is very much how I like to play, too. He likes expansive rugby and to move the ball around, get quick plays off the ruck, which plays into my hands, I feel.
“I’m looking forward to meeting and working with him, and as I said before, kicking on together as a team.”
Sharing a thank you to St.Helens fans for their wonderful backing of the team, Clark added: “All our fans have been class since the start, even coming from where I did, I felt taken in straight away. Getting the song sung as well is very cool, and it’s always amazing to hear it.
“Please keep up that brilliant support of us all in the team. I will always give you my everything on the field, and I know you’ll keep getting behind me and the rest of the boys.”
Clark began his professional rugby league career with his hometown club Castleford Tigers, making his debut in 2011, and broke through as one of the hottest young talents in the sport.
In 2014, Clark went from being an aspiring prospect to simply being a star player. He won both the Young Player of the Year and the Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award, playing his part in Castleford getting to Wembley. It would be his final season at the Tigers before making a big move to Warrington Wolves.
In his time with the Wire, Clark played in three Challenge Cup Finals and two Grand Finals, lifting the Challenge Cup in 2019 at Wembley – where he scored and earned the Lance Todd Trophy as the Man of the Match.
Since making the move to the Saints ahead of 2024, Clark has gone on to make 52 appearances in the Red V so far, scoring 13 tries for a total points tally of 52.
On the international stage, Clark has earned 13 caps for England, 2 for Great Britain and 1 for the England Knights. He has been the starting hooker for England’s Test Series victories over Tonga (3-0) in 2023 and Samoa (2-0) in 2025.
Daryl has also been selected to be in the England squad for the 2025 Rugby League Ashes Test Series against Australia and has been confirmed to be in the matchday squad for the First Test against the Kangaroos at Wembley this coming Saturday afternoon.
Speaking about being selected for this historic Ashes Test series – the first in 22 years – Daryl Clark expressed his gratitude for being able to play for England.
“It is always a great honour to represent your country, and this year’s extra special with it being against Australia. I actually played against them back in 2014, so over ten years later, here we go again. It’s been a long time between games, and I’m really looking forward to hopefully getting another crack at them this weekend.”
