As preseason continues to progress we caught up with Tristan Sailor as he looks ahead to his second season in the Red Vee!
Tristan spoke on the return to preseason, saying the off season feels like it went very fast getting back into the colder weather and back into training, but he’s excited at the prospect of getting to work with the new players and our new head coach, saying he believes we are progressing really well.
He said that this preseason has been different with a big focus on the fundamentals especially in attack, with that being a big focus. He said that we still have our DNA in being a defensive team, but we are doing a lot of attacking work.
Having played in a number of positions last season, we asked Tristan if he had any updates on his position next season, but, like Paul Rowley, he was unwilling to give anything away so early. He did however say that we have clarity on our combinations, but the beauty of our attack is everyone can slot in everywhere and act as one cohesive unit.
On the new head coach, Tristan said that he’s been really good so far and is creating an environment for the team to connect on and off the field more often, and the focus is on fundamentals, but also bringing excitement and expression.
With the season fast approaching, Tristan said that his goals are to find some consistency not only in performance but also in position. He said he wants to focus on being the best version of himself he can be for the team.
Finally, Tristan said the fans should all be very excited too, as they’ve been demanding attacking rugby, and if we’re going to get anything with Rowley it will be that, saying they can definitely expect bravery in the play.
