Saints Chairman details Club heritage to First Team

St.Helens R.F.C. Chairman Eamonn McManus spoke with our 2026 First Team squad at the Saints’ training base at Cowley.

As we move ever closer to the new year, excitement and motivation continue to build for the Red V’s 2026 season.

Addressing the First Team playing squad, coaches and staff, McManus shared an overview of the industrial history of our town of St Helens, and highlighted the importance of the Club to our local community for more than 152 years. In particular, the Chairman highlighted the responsibility that the team carries in representing the community it serves.

Sharing his own personal journey and drive for success, Eamonn spoke of how proud he is to be a son of the town. He also reflected on his role in guiding the Club from its beloved former home at Knowsley Road to its modern-day stadium, now known as the BrewDog Stadium.

As the Club embarks on a new chapter, with a new stadium name, a new Head Coach and new players, McManus was keen to emphasise that St.Helens holds itself to the highest standards. He reinforced the importance of maintaining a winning mentality, underpinned by a rich history and the Club’s status as the most successful rugby league club of the summer era.

The Chairman closed by wishing each player the very best for the year ahead, stressing that everyone will need to play their part in striving towards a strong and successful 2026.
