St.Helens young forward Leon Cowen has joined Betfred Championship team Halifax Panthers on a season-long loan.
Leon Cowen is proudly sponsored by St Helens UPVC.
The 21-year-old will be in contention for consistent match minutes working under former Saint and Panthers’ Head Coach Kyle Eastmond.
The Saints Academy graduate did play for Halifax during the 2025 season on dual registration, making nine appearances for the West Yorkshire side. Last summer, Cowen made his official Club and Super League debut with the Saints, earning Heritage Number #1299.
Halifax will begin their 2026 campaign this coming weekend with a trip to Doncaster RLFC on Sunday, with Leon potentially set to feature.
St.Helens Head Coach Paul Rowley said: “We are happy that Leon is joining Halifax Panthers where he will get consistent rugby at a fantastic club.
“I trust Halifax will look after him and hold him to the good standards that they set.”
The Saints would like to wish Leon the best of luck whilst he is on loan!
